Message from the President

As the new President of Aseanian Membrane Society (AMS) for the term of 2022 to 2023, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the AMS Council and Advisory Board for empowering me to lead and serve the AMS. It is my privilege and honour to take up this position. I would also like to thank Prof. Ying-Ling Liu, the former AMS President, for his leadership through the very difficult time of COVID-19.

AMS was founded in 2002 to advance membrane science and technology, and to serve membranologists in the “Asia” and “Oceanian” regions. It also provides an important platform to promote professional and collaborative networking and connect membrane communities around the world. Currently, the AMS includes eight membrane societies. We warmly welcome more membrane societies in the regions to join us in the AMS big family.

Similar to our sister regional membrane societies, AMS organizes an annual AMS Conference, except when the triennial International Congress on Membranes & Membrane Processes (ICOM) falls on the same year. The most recent AMS Conference (AMS12) took place in Jeju, Korea in 2019. Due to COVID-19, AMS13 was postponed from 2021 to 2022.

This year, AMS13 will be hosted by the Membrane Society in Singapore (MEMSIS) on 4-6 July 2022 ( MEMSIS is actively preparing the event to ensure that AMS13 will be a memorable experience for all attendees on both personal and professional grounds. We cordially invite you to join us at AMS13 in Singapore.

I am proud to let you know that the major global membrane event, ICOM2023, will be hosted by the Membrane Society of Japan, one of the AMS members. AMS will provide our fullest support to make this event a great success.

I look forward to your continued support to AMS.

President, the Aseanian Membrane Society (2022-2023)
